My error:
I wrote-
Elizabeth Conger who married Joseph Nichols 16 Sep 1784 in Rowan County, NC was the daughter of Jonathan Ross and his wife Euphemia. I'm not sure what Euphemia's maiden name was, although most Conger descendants believe it was Ross. Jonathan Ross was born 22 Jan 1732 and died 7 May 1793. He was buried in the Conger Cemetery, Davidson County, NC. (check Find A Grave)"
NO, Elizabeth Conger who married Joseph Nichols, was the daughter of Jonathan CONGER (not Ross as I wrote) and his wife Euphemia.
Jonathan Conger was born 22 Jan 1732 and died 7 May 1793.
I read a story about the discovery of Jonathan Conger's tombstone that said his tombstone was unearthed when a railroad right away was being built. The report stated, "This particular grave was six feet deep, with a vault of 3½ feet. The bones were entact and properly arranged, with the arms, according to the old custom, parallel with the body, instead of crossed, as is the present day custom. The hair was well preserved, although the date on the stone stated the man died May 7, 1793, more than 116 years ago. The date of his birth was given as Jan 22, 1732, his age being 61 years, three months and sixteen days."This grave was apparently unearthed about 1909.
Sorry about that.I was in a hurry to take my dog for a walk before it got dark.
