I have an unidentified Civil War photo found in my great-grandfather's album, probably from the Illinois 33rd Regiment, Co. F. The man is wearing what looks to be First Lieutenants' bars. I have narrowed the names to the following: George W. McKee, Ancona, Livingston, IL; Elijah Gray, Winchester, Scott, Illinois, who was promoted from private through the ranks to major; John X. Wilson, Bloomington, McLean, IL. The other 1st lieutenants from the company are pictured in a book, and this is not one of them. I'm leaning toward the first man, because my g-grandfather was from Livingston, IL. However, I really don't know. The man has dark hair, a straight nose, prominent cheek bones, and small ears. He could be part Native American. Maybe someone has other family photos that can help identify the man. If so, I'd love to hear from you. Notify Administrator about this message?
