Illinois Wilshires/mid 1800's

I've made a few discoveries recently: the name has been misspelled as 'Wilcher' and Wilkshire' at least in some places. My gggrandfather, William Wallace Wilshire married Catharine Reynolds in PT Byron, Rock Is, Ill on 22 Feb 1849 however she may be on the record as Catherine Randall! How to know?!?! Wilshire there is spelled Wilcher! Everything else fits. She is in the census as having been born in Ohio, her father from PA and mother from MD.
William W's father is listed as William I /S Wilcher married to Mary Akers born in Ireland---they married in Shawneetown, Gallatin, Ill in 1828. This is not a common name so I suspect that we may all be related .......
