Census states William was a farmer. In 1861 he was postmaster of Cause Prairie Post Office in Cass Co, MO.I have marriage records for Malinda, Alice, Matilda, Priscilla & Graves and death certificates for Laura, Elizabeth & James. Also obits for Charles, Elizabeth, Ida, James and William & Nancy's wills.
I think, but cannot prove that William is the son of Charles R & Matilda Sarah Chinn Wilmot and a brother of Joseph David Wilmot who married Elizabeth Graves' sister Francis in Boone County, MO. Would like to have any info you have.
