I read your item about Willson name with two "L" spelling. My branch of the family has ALWAYS spelled the name that way. I had heard from Rick Wilson some years ago that some members of the family dropped the second "L" because of confusion in delivering the mail. Im also related to Emery Jasper Willson and Selinda Brooks via Joseph Willson born 1816 in Ohio, married Sarah Swallow in Jay County, Indiana in 1837. There are some Willson/Wilson relatives who were in Jay County, Indiana after Emery died in 1833 and was buried at the Blues Creek settlement near Marysville, Union County, Ohio. My great grandfather was William H. Willson, one of the children of Joseph Willson and Sarah Swallow. My grandfather was Justin Perkins Willson a son of William H and Minerva Ann Reed of Milford Center, Union County, Ohio. Will share additional info if interested.
