Trying to find marriage/death/children for a brother of Bowling Green Willson/Wilson. His father, Daniel, is in the 1850 Barry Co., Mo. census as Daniel WILLSON. Daniel's father, George, is listed in the 1850 Barry Co., Mo. census as George WILLSON. But in later censuses, "Wilson" is usually the spelling. So I'm keeping an open mind about whether they were originally WILLSON or WILSON. In 1860 Barry Co.,Mo. census, Bowling Green Wilson (listed as Boland G., 7 yrs. old) is listed as one of the children of Daniel Wilson. One of the other children listed is "Wm. L.," 4. In 1870, these two sons of Daniel are listed as "Bolin G.," 16, and "Leroy," 14. Since Bowling Green Wilson married in 1879, he is no longer listed with his parents (Daniel & Sarah) in 1880, and the oldest child still living at home is listed as "Leroy S.," 22. This Wm. L./Leroy/Leroy S. WILSON is one of two possibilities as father of a Charlie/Charley/Charles WILSON, who was supposedly born at or near Galena, Stone Co., Missouri around 1884 (& died in California in 1956). Charlie's death certificate listed his parents as "Leroy" & "Catherine" WILSON. If the 1890 census still existed, then Charlie would be with his parents as a 6-8 year-old child and easy to find. However, family stories suggest that he may have left home as a teenager, how young we don't know. Anyway, we have not been able to find Bowling Green's brother (Wm. L/Leroy) in the 1900 Mo. census yet and don't know if he actually survived to 1900 and whether he married and had children. And since Bowling Green Wilson moved from Barry Co. to Stone Co. (adjoining counties), we don't know if Leroy would have stayed in Barry Co. or moved to Stone Co.
To confuse matters further, there was a "Leroy" WILSON in the 1900 Stone Co. census (whose father was also Leroy Wilson), but there is no 16-year-old "Charlie" Wilson listed in his household (already left home?). At the time (1900), Leroy's wife was Melissa Issabelle/Isabella (Johnson), whom he married in 1868. But by 1900, Leroy had remarried to a lady named "Catherine." Since Isabella died about 60 years before "possible" son Charlie, it is understandable that Charlie's wife may have thought that Leroy's second wife was Charlie's mother.
OR..... Could the other Leroy Wilson (Bowling Green's brother) have also married a Catherine?
It's a problem guessing which Leroy might have been Charlie's father, since Charlie hasn't shown up in a census with either one yet and the only one that we know married a Catherine wasn't actually married to her yet when Charlie was born. And Charlie was married by 1909 and turns up in the 1900 census in Lawrence Co., Arkansas, far enough from Barry Co. & Stone Co., Missouri that there aren't any relatives living close enough to suggest which "Leroy" family he might have belonged to originally.
Any information or suggestions you may have would be appreciated.
