This Elijah served in Company H of the Missouri Mounted Volunteers in the Mexican War. He was pensioned, and he also received bounty land for his service. I don't know if he patented land with his warrant, or if he sold the warrant, as I didn't look at the surrendered warrant.
In 1888, he lived in Leote (or Leoli?) Wichita Co., KS, and by 1893 was in Webb City, Jasper Co., MO. I don't know the wife's name, she wasn't pensioned. This information comes from the Pension file and bounty land file, which are both at the National Archives.
