Hi Jason! You've got a really interesting surname and there are lots of people researching their links to it on the internet. I have been looking at the families in the UK from the 13th century; one Lord Willoughby had a ballad written about him, rather like 'Sir Patrick Spens' if you have read that in school, a Hugh Willoughby was an explorer and died on the north coast of Russia, trying to find a route to China round the top of the world, and a Thomas Willoughby in the 17th Century was a Governor of Massachusetts.
What you need to do is ask your father the name of his father and grandfather, together with who they married, where the families lived, who were the children of the various marriages [some of them your aunts and uncles, some your cousins]. When you have these family groupings, and some locations for them, you can search the Willoughby message page for hopeful links. All the best in your hunt!
