The more I thought about Susannah who married Freeborn BALCH, s/o Freeborn & Miriam (Moulton) BALCH, in
Boston on Jun 19, 1712, the more I got to thinking about
the names of their children:

Freeborn, b. Feb 5, 1712
Susannah, b. Feb 11, 1714
Agigail, b. Mar 9, 1717
Miriam, b. Mar 18, 1718
John, b. Sep 9, 1722
Ebenezer, b. Jan 16, 1723
Elizabeth, b. Mar 2, 1725

I can see that the 1st two children were named for Freeborn
and Susannah. The next two were named for both of their
mothers; and then John was named for her father. Ebenezer
was probably for her brother. The only WILLISTON that
Susannah could be was the d/o John & Abigail WILLISTON
who have 3 documented children: Icabod, Ebenezer, and
WIlliam. I have found no other WILLISTON in the area
that could have been Susannah's father. Her naming
patterns would lend support to this.

Now, down in Tiverton RI where your Susannah married
Edward MANCHESTER and remarried Joesph WOODWORTH --
that's where Abigail, the mother b. ABT 1650, went
with son Ichabod, b. Feb 16, 1676 Boston, MA
Ichabod married in 1700.

My only conclusion here is that John & Abigail WILLISTON
had 5 children:

Icabod, b. 1676; m. 1700 (proven child)
William b. 1679; m. 1707 (proven child)
Ebenezer b 1681; m. 1705 (proven child)
Susannah m. 1712 (based on child names & date)
Anna m. 1720

I have a Susannah (called Anna in the marriage records)
that was born Sep 13, 1683. If she is your Anna, she
would have married at age 36. If she were the Susannah
that married Freeborn BALCH, she would have been 28.

R.I. Deed sale 1764:

We, John WILLSTONE, gentleman, Jacob BURGESS, cooper,
and Susannah BURGESS, Abigail STODDARD, widow, Robert
CARTER, shipwright and Ruth, his wife; Ebenezer VOSE,
mariner and Phebe Vose, his wife of Newport and heirs
to the estate of the late Ichabod WILLISTONE and
Dorothy WILLISTON of Little Compton sell............

The Susannah mentioned was b. Mar 28,1721; d. Nov 15,1816;
m. 1739 Jacob BURGESS

John & Abigail's other child, William who stayed in
Swansea had a Susannah, b. Feb 7, 1720.

Do you have any wills for any of the Williston family?
-John (father)
-Abigail (mother d. Aug 15, 1736 Little Compton, RI)
-Ebenezer (brother, b. 1681 Milton; children born in Boston
-William (brother, b 1679 in Swansea)
