ARA fort worth office has many native records for the southwest/oklahoma area. http://www.archives.gov
oklahoma historical society has done a lot of work that is helpful. http://www.okhistory.org/

state archives can be helpful.
http://www.odl.state.ok.us/
http://www.odl.state.ok.us/oar/

one major collection is the oklahoma pioneer papers, with interviews of elders done by the WPA.
http://digital.libraries.ou.edu/whc/pioneer/
these are indexed by the interviewee name, but i donít know that an index exists by names that are mentioned in the interviews.

another collection is the oklahoma chronicles.
http://digital.library.okstate.edu/chronicles/index.html
this is a historical series

things changed in the 1800ís, so we have pretty good information 1900-1930 with the census. but there is very little of the 1890 census because it burned. there are a few pieces of texas and the veterans 1890 census is a substitute. that jump from 1880-1900 was difficult because 20 years is a generation.

census records 1850-1880 list all members of the household but census records before that time period only lists head of household. natives who live on reservations are not on the federal census as they were not taxed.

then you have the native census records and databases. usually this is the only thing people have for natives who were living on the reservation. you can see the transcriptions of most of those on accessgenealogy.com

accessgenealogy dawes roll says footnote has this packet, gives a link
Lucy Byrd Dawes Packet
footnote is a subscription website, but the cost of a monthís membership would be cheaper than NARA or oklahoma historical society.
