Henry Willis of Pulaski Co., KY

Henry Willis was not born in Barnswell Co., SC. This was just a myth that was started 50 years ago. Not one document has ever been located to prove that this family was ever in SC. If you think about the migration patterns, it does not seem logical that a family would move to Pulaski from SC. They would have move from SC to TN and then to Logan Co., KY or Warren Co., KY.

Henry Willis' wife was named Mary Cochran. See Pulaski Co., Ky land deeds. Also Henry Willis signed the marriage bond of his niece Nancy Jane Coughran to Ayress Doss. Henry and Mary Willis named their son Samuel Willis after her brother Samuel Coughran.

Henry Willis first appeared in Fincastle Co., VA with the Cochran Family. He was sited for cohabitating with Mary Cochran on the 5 May 1773. See " Annals of SW Virginia " by Summers.

Henry Willis is not the son of Lewis Willis and Mary Champe. His parents are unknown. Please see Willis Project on Family Tree DNA.

Joy
