I wonder if you can tell me whether/how the following John Willingham family was related to the one you describe:
John Willingham will proved Union Co. AR,Sept 12 1853 (written 22 April 1850).The will mentions
"beloved wife Mary Willingham" (executrix)
"my daughter Jane and her husband William Willingham"
"my daughter Elisabeth and her husband Archibald Harkey" (they get land in Coosa Co. AL)
"my daughter Patsy and William N. Weston her husband"
"my daughter Harriet & her husband Thomas Norris"
"my son John C Willingham"
"my daughter Mary and her husband Elijah Willingham"
"my son William J. Willingham"
"my daughter Sena Ann and her husband Elijah Pearson"
and in a codicil:
"I also further appoint Elijah Willingham of the State of
Alabama as guardian or trustee for and on behalf of my beloved daughter, Patsey Wesson..." along with various other clauses.
"Elijah Willingham of the State of Alabama" is, according to my information, a son of William Willingham and Hannah Clements.Could this be the "William Willingham of Alabama" referred to in the will of Mary Willingham which you cite?
How do these families connect?Any idea?
James Blair
The daughter Patsey Wesson is one of my 3rd ggmothers. She was born about 1802 in SC, married William N Wesson in Madison Co AL on 11 May 1820, and died after 1880 in Talladega Co. AL.
