Hi Cheryl,

My Great Grandfather is also named Louis Paul Willing and married to Lida Sherwood of Erie, Pa. My connection is through my grandmother Phyllis Willing Davis, who was Louis Paul and Lida's daughter. Her daughter was my mother Elizabeth, now both deceased. Both are buried in Erie in the family plot. I was born in Erie, although I have lived in Canada most of my life.

My great grandfather, Louis Pete, as I understood, was a piano maker, and there is a Willing piano in the Erie museum.

I do not know much of anything about the Willing family, but would like to know. I named my son Willing because I thought it was a cool family name.

Once my mother told me that her sister who had a ring from the Duke of Wellington that belonged to the family, but she lost it. I have never known whether the Willing family was related to this Duke. I am learning about Lord William Willing from Devon and find this topic very interesting.

Your cousin several times removed,
Wendy
