St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, 21 April 1954
Thief Enters Home
on Good Friday;
Escapes with Penny
A thief entered the Clarence Willing home, 1214 S. Second st., Good Friday evening while the family was attending church, but was scared by the returning family and escaped with only a penny.

Only item found missing was a Santa Claus piggy bank belonging to one of the children, which had contained four cents. This bank was found on the ground outside the house by police with three of the four cents lying near it.

The Willings upon return from church suspected nothing was wrong until they noticed the back door was ajar. Inspecting further, they discovered some one had removed the storm window from their bathroom window and entered the house. Because only the piggy bank was missing, it was believed that the prowler had little time to work and had been scared away by the returning family.
I am not related to nor researching this family and have no further information.
