John, honey chile, you shoulda asked me before you went to all that trouble. No, Roseannah Matthews never lived in Williamsburg County. She lived in Williamsburg District, a much bigger & different thing, which was eventually split up into Wmsbg County and Florence County. The Coward community (known by many names, Lee's, Lynches, etc.) was/is in Florence County. I do mind my p's & q's, having had many hours credit in college in archival & library work, and working 17 years as a proofreader, believe me. And you gotta get that "t" in the Williamson outta your otherwise brilliant head; I have searched & concluded that there has apparently never been a WilliamsTon family in SC or anywhere else in the US or Britain. The very important thing the best genealogist I ever knew told me is: census records can be wildly, insanely wrong as to ages,(some people even get younger rather than older on ensuing censuses (!), completeness, spelling, etc.; she said deeds & wills are so much more important. Census takers were often careless, some barely literate, some too lazy to make a real effort, respondents often lied about their ages, sometimes a mere child would be the person who gave the info to the census taker, people deliberately lied to cover up something, etc etc. However, I didnt recall that the difference in the men's ages was SO great. It seems possible, but not probable that Hybert was my grt-grand. Most important thing you left out for little ol' poor as a churchmouse me is: what does that danged DNA test cost?
