Documentation: Research of John Burnett of Reno, NV. The Williamses of
Baker County, Florida by J.E. Kelly, Baker County Census Records, 1870,
1880, 1885. Baker County, Florida Cemetery and marriage records. John
Daniel Williams served in the Second Seminole Indian War from 1837
until his discharge in 1840. He served as a Private under Captain
Lewis Bailey and Captain William Haddock. He also served in the
Confederate Army as a Sergeant in Co. K, 2nd Florida Cavalry. He left
his first wife sometime in 1865 and was married in 1868 to Georgia Ann
Rewis Anderson ( who had previously been married to Malachi Anderson).
When John Daniel "Joachim"
Williams died both of his wives were by his bedside. He died from skin
cancer. He was buried by the Saint Marys River in what is now the
Osceola National Forest in Baker county, Florida. His grave is marked
and a fence is around the graveyard to protect the property. .
