Does anyone know the parents or the descendants of James Willeford who was in Clay County, Kentucky in 1821?
In the book, CLAY COUNTY, KENTUCKY: HISTORY AND FAMILIES, on page 31 it states: "11/12/21 Reviewers appointed by the court reported a way for a road as follows: From Clay County courthouse in a direction of the Estill County line passing John Chandler's, thence by the double lick, thence by the single boiling spring, thence as the path now runs to Samuel Chestnut's, thence as marked to James Willifords, thence to Smith's camp, thence to Ambrose Cobb' on Main Sturgeon, thence to the Estill line near the head of Grassy Branch to meet at that place the Estill Road."
I think James Willeford was in Clay County early - at least 1820 and possibly earlier, but I don't know if he could be my ancestor. I am looking for the parents of George/Washington/Watt Willeford who lived in Knox County and then later in Bell County (when it was formed). This could be his father since he is so close and he would be about the right age (I think). Any help is appreciated. I keep hoping I'll find my ancestors!
