Dear Ken:
Sounds familiar in a way. Our John c 1679 son of William c. 1654 m. Ann Gunham 30 Oct 1704 Ch: William 12 Jan 1706, Thomas 1710, Samuel 1712-1712,William 1714, Samuel 1716 ( from whom my husband's family is descended.
Then we have :
Joseph 1783-15 Feb 1851 son of Samuel and Fanny m. Sarah Heley (widow) Ch: Mary Ann 1822, William 1818 (husband's ancestor), Ann c. 1824, Eliza c. 1826, Harriet Louise.
Lived in MIddlezoy, Ise Abbotts, Ilmnster, Ruishton .
The name Maud appears in later generations as well as Cottrell. We may have a lead here.
Sketchy: William c.1654 Ch: John 1679, Jacob, Thomas, Elizabeth, Ursula, Marie, Jane in Bruton.
John c. 1685 absent from home and suspected of taking part in the rebellion (Duke of Monmouth trying to get the throne back) The Duke watched the last battle on English soil, the battle of Sedgmoor from a church tower near the Willcox farm. A cannon ball lobbed over onto the Willcox lands in Middlezoy. Tod's cousin still has it.
