Carol Willard
Thank you very much for your attention. I am searching for the family of my great grandfather. He went by the name of Theodore Hepler Farrell. A brother came to visit him in Glasgow, MT, whom my aunt remembers, went by the name of Bill. No other family was introduced to this man, as my grandfather met him at the train station and visited him in town.
Grandpa documented his birthplace as Pittsburg, and his parents were James Farrell and CAROL B WILLARD. This is on his social security application, which he filed in about 1936, when he began working for the Corp of Engineers, building the Fort Peck Dam. He later worked for the railroad. On his marriage certificate, however, which he filed for in 1925, he listed his birthplace as Youngston, OH, and his parents as Thomas Mahard (Maynard?) Farrell, and Mary Landruth. I believe he was born between 1902 and 1905.
My father, Ted Farrell, remembers his dad telling him he was a merchant marine for a time, and he was a mule skinner in the borax mines in the Arizona/California area, before coming to Montana. He was a friend of my grandmother’s brother, Ted Hamaker. He married Jennie Hamaker in Valier, MT, in 1925.
He also spoke of an uncle in Scranton, PA, where he spent some of his childhood. This uncle may have live on a farm, as he talked about his hay fields. He may have had a sister, Mary Farrell, that taught at a college in Cleveland, OH.
I would appreciate any information you may have on any Farrells in Pennsylvania, or Ohio that may be related to Theodore.
