I am researching my GGGG Grandfather, Riley Whitaker of Surry County, North Carolina. His wife is names Nancy (1792 - ). Everything I read assumes she was a Willard, often it is written that she is the daughter of Allen Willard (1790 - ). Obviously, the dates don't work.
I have confirmed that Riley's wife was named Nancy and I have confirmed that he had a relationship with Allen Willard. They were neighbors and Allen transferred a substantial amount of land to Riley in several installments.
Another curiousity - the 1860 Census lists Riley and Nancy in Yadkinville, but Nancy lists her place of birth as Virginia.
