Researching the family of my great great great grandfather whose first name is unknown. He was the father of Margaret "Peggy" (nee WILKERSON) JOHNSON. Peggy was born between 1810-1815, in Chatham County, NC. Her mother died during or shortly after her birth. She was left in the care of maternal COPELAND relatives. Oral tradition in the family has it that her father had recently immigrated from Ireland and returned there a widower. The name "WILKERSON" appears to be a corruption of "WILKINSON," due to local pronunciation in NC. I'm trying to find anyone else who may know what Peggy's father's name was. I recently had help from a kind genealogy buff in interpolating local records in Chatham County that don't directly link him with Peggy, I do see that there was a Robert WILKERSON who briefly lived there in the period 1810-1820, but who wasn't in any census records for either 1810 or 1820.
