James Wilkinson & May Ann Purvis, GA ->TX
This is my fathers side. I can not seem to get back past James & Mary (Purvis) who married in GA and came to Polk Co., Texas about 1855.
There was another Wilkinson/Wilkerson family with many of the same names for the boys but they came from Mississippi. This are not my line.
Once in Polk Co., TX, the 4 boys (possibly 5) spread out, some staying in Polk Co., 2 going to Hardin Co. and one I think ended up in Montgomery Co., TX
My cousin, Joel Wilkinson from Indiana was putting together a book, I am not sure if his family completed it after his passing. Joel had promised me a copy since I supplied photos, records, etc and took him to the old Jefferson D. Wilkinson & Nancy Jane Cross homestead (no longer standing). I hope someone finished his passion.
Joel had thought that the father of James was a Hugh Wilkinson from GA. I am not sure why he thought that and the name has never been repeated in the later generations, which leads me to have doubts about Hugh.
Can someone please help me get past this brickwall.
The children and other descendants are listed on the website but here is the generation coming to TX.
