Hobert L Wilkinson/George C Munson adopted by Ralph Munson, Bethlehem CT`1869

George C. Munson (born Hobert L Wilkinson) (dob 8 Feb. 1867) was adopted by Ralph Munson of Bethlehem, CT some time between 06 Jun 1867 when father Leonard L Wilkinson died in Brookfield, Fairfield Co., CT and the enumeration of the 1870 Fed Census       Bethlehem, Litchfield, CT, 5 July 1870.

George C Munson/Hobert L Wilkinson attested to these facts at age 19 in an affidavit to prove that he was the true son of Civil War soldier Leonard L. Wilkinson b. abt 1821 probably in New York.

His Wilkinson family was completely "re-deployed" following the father's death - Hobert L and Hubert L Wilkinson were twins - they had an older sister Elnora/Elinor b. Nov 27, 1859 and two older brothers, Royal L Wilkinson b. Sept. 9 1854 and Reuben M Wilkinson b. July 24 1856 - all in Brookfield, Fairfield, CT.

The mother of these five children was Mary A Peck b. 11 Oct 1823 in Brookfield, Fairfield, CT. This Mary A Peck was the dau. of Michael Peck b. 03 Jul 1789. Michael was a 4th gr-grandson of immigrant JOSEPH PECK, of Milford, CT.

Leonard L Wilkinson is my 2nd gr-grandfather via his first marriage to Marcia M Thomas and their daughter Alice Jane Wilkinson b. 1850.

He is proving to be extremely hard to trace backward in time and I am taking this opportunity to see if I can pull some of this uprooted family back together again.

I will be glad to provide further info to any interested.

Bill Harvey
