Wilkinson in Monroe Co., Ohio
I would like to repost this information in hopes that someone will recognize these Wilkinson's.
Thomas P. Wilkinson (Thomas Plummer Wilkinson) was born 1801 either in VA or PA, according to census records. He married a woman named Susannah, surname unknown and listed as born in PA on census records. He appears in the 1840 and 1850 census's in Elk Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio, and the 1860 census of Elk Twp., Noble Co., Ohio.(This portion of Monroe Co. became Noble Co. in 1851).He died about 1866, although I have no concrete information on his death.Thomas had several land patents in what is now Noble Co., and a William Wilkinson had a land patent on a neighboring piece.Thomas may be connected to the Wilkinson family in Belmont Co., although I have no proof of this. Some of the names in the two families are similar, and there is a William Wilkinson residing in Belmont Co.Maybe they are brothers?I believe that Thomas's middle name of Plummer could also be a clue to his family.
Thomas's wife, Susannah, was born about 1805 and died prior to 1870.They had 4 known children:Enoch b. abt. 1830, William J. b. abt. 1835, Mary Angeline b. abt 1842, and Elizabeth Emiline b. abt. 1846.
William is my ancestor. He married Martha/Mary Ann Carmichael 2 Oct 1854, and William died in 1862, of unknown reason. He would have only been in his mid to late 20's.They had 2 sons, Enoch Thomas Wilkinson (my ancestor) and Samuel Clinton Wilkinson.William and Martha appeared in the 1860 Elk Twp., Noble Co., Ohio census with their 2 sons.Martha remarried a John Rohrer in 1864.
Enoch Wilkinson may have married Rebecca Ray and had 2 sons, Newton and Joseph. He may have married 2nd Martha Ball.
Mary Angeline married a Theodore Phawloh in 1861, but I have been unable to trace them further.
Elizabeth Emiline married Thomas W. Cooley, and likewise, I have been unable to trace her further.
Any assistance that could be provided on this family would be greatly appreciated.I am most willing to share my information with anyone who wants it.
Thank You!
Polly L. Rizer
