I read your posts from 2002 (and 1999) on Genealogy.com about Descendants/Relatives/Ancestry of Sir David Wilkie, the Scottish Painter (1785 -1841) and that you (Gale) were a descendant of James Wilkie ( I assume you are referring to James (b. 4 Jul.1784, brother of Sir David Wilkie - second son of Rev. David Wilkie, minister of Cults, Scotland).
I am researching Sir David Wilkie for my daughter and her mother who have a relative by the name of Isabelle Wilkie Arnot (b. 13 Feb 1882, New Jersey), whose mother was Isabelle Wilkie (b. 21 Apr 1821,,Fife, Scotland,Death: 15 Feb 1887,,,Scotland), who passed down a biography of Sir David Wilkie by John W. Mollett 1881 along with an understanding that the family was related in some way to Sir David Wilkie.Alas, any knowledge was lost along the way on what the relationship was (if any),except for the biography.
The biography stated the following:
Rev. David Wilkie married Isabella Lister(Sir David
Wilkie's father and mother)
John was the first born,13 Aug 1782
James was the second, 4 Jul 1884
Sir David was the third,18 Nov 1785 in Cults, Fife, Scotland
Helen was a daughter (don't have any dates yet, but my guess is she was born Abt 1786-1787)
Sir David's paternal grandfather (Rev. David Wilkie's father) was John Wilkie ( I estimate his birth around 1740)
I see that Douglas Wilkie indicated he had a fairly complete lineage of Sir David Wilkie.I also see that little has occurred on this topic for some time.Would any of you be interested in finding a way to collaborate, if that would be possible. My tree is on Ancestry.com under the tree name "Duros and Related Family Trees".Currently I have Sir David Wilkie and his relatives on my tree, but I do not have his lineage connected to my daughter or her mothers lineage (it is what I like to call a "hanging limb").I recently added a good deal of descendants of James Wilkie from the information Gale had posted and then Ancestry.com started finding other trees with further descendants, which Ancestry attached to my tree (thank you Gale!)
I would assume the message board would be the best way to collaborate, that way we don't have emails flying back and forth. The only reason I am sending this note by email is because I was not sure who among you would still be accessing the message board.I will post this message to the Wilkie Family Genealogy Forum for Sir David Wilkie on Genealogy.com.
Hope to hear from some or all of you soon.

P. S. If you are interested have trouble getting to my tree on Ancestry.com please let me know.I can always add you as a Guest, which sends you an email invitation to my tree and lets you view it.It is a PUBLIC tree so you should not have any problems if you are a Ancestry.com member, but I am not sure what you can get to if you are not a member.Any way, let me know if you are interested.
