I am a grandson of John Wales Wilkes, born in Sparks St, Aston, Birmingham on 22/02/1868, Son of Frederic Wilkes. He married Ellen Hall, born in Coles Hill, Warwickshire on 18/04/1870, daughter of George Hall and Ann Clifford.
They lived in Balsall Heath, Birmingham and had three children, Eva Grace born in 1898, Eric John born 24/06/1900 and Howard Frederic born 21/11/1907.
They all migrated to Australia in 1922.
Howard was my father. All the above are now dead.
Dad told me that John Wales Wilkes had many brothers (8 or 9 from memory) and 1 sister, and that the boys made up most of the Warwickshire cricket team at one stage.
The only thing I know for certain is that John had two brothers named Fred and Eric, and that is why Dad's second name has no "k" on the end as is usual - he was named after Fred & Eric.
If the above information matches anything that you have, then I can supply more information to update to the present. I have not done any searches, I just have some birth and death certificates and information that Dad left. I just Googled "Wilkes" and "Birmingham" one night and came across this site, so I have registered to be allowed to reply. I don't understand how this site works, so I will just click the Post Message tab and hope that it goes through. I think i will receive an email on my address if you reply. It is iwilkes@optusnet.com.au.
