I have researched Wilfongs because one of my grandfather's sisters, Ada Spunaugle 1870-1930, married Lee Roy "Roy" Wilfong 1861-1936. Roy's parents were John Wilfong b. abt 1817 in OH, d. after 1880 and John's second wife, Margaret <unknown>.
John Wilfong and first wife, Martha <unk> had following children (from Census of 1860, Monroe County, Albia IA):
Elvie, age 16, b.OH, Harriet E, age 12, b. OH; Nancy M, age 9, b. IA; Ellis, age 7, b.IA; Sylvester, age 6, b. IA; and Martha, age 3, b. MO. Wife Martha had already been replaced by second wife Margaret by Census of 1860.
Census of 1870 shows John with wife Margaret, and children Sylvester, age 16 (from first marriage); Lee Roy, age 8; and Price age 6; they were living in Madison,Clark County MO. Lee Roy and Price were b. in Illinois according to census.
Census of 1880 shows John living with son Sylvester in Hiawatha Twp., Brown County KS. John indicated that both of his parents were b. in VA; he was b. in OH.
Is your Christopher possibly the father of my John Wilfong?
