What a sad story!
Someone has posted a genealogy to Ancestry that reports Lula McNabb having died in Georgia on 10 Feb 1922. It would be interesting to know how this person knows that and what the evidence is for the place of death.
The same person who posted this also reported that Lula's daughter, Virginia Christine (aka Jean), had married Mr. Taylor and she died in California on 4 Sep 1986. I wonder if she married a son of Ray Taylor who was one of the families who took in the children.
Her son, Acey R. McNabb, was enumerated in the 1930 census for Clark County, Arkansas. He was 22 yo b. Georgia and clearly newly married to Elenas 17 yo b. AR. He was living next door to the family of Luke Wingfield. I see no evidence of any of his sisters.
