Wilde sisters - buried at Drumsnat Churchyard, Monaghan

The two half-sisters of Oscar Wilde are buried at Drumsnat Church - they died following a party at Drummaconnor House when their crinoline dresses caught fire. Recently, due to the efforts of wallace Graham, a new headstone clearly identifies the grave, cost partly paid by the Wilde Family in England. The old gravestone is still there but now illegible. Of course, unknown to many, was the fact that Ralph Wilde, who was looking after the young Wilde ladies, was Rector of Drumsnat Church at the time of their deaths.
