Reg, I went to planetmurphy and found it fascinating. It did give me a lot of backgrond on the family, some of the same conflicting information I have on the family, and the link to Northwestern NC. The counties of Wilkes, Rowan, and Ashe keep showing up in Wilcox family information. History of this area shows the progression from Rowan and then Wilkes that Ashe later was formed.

My lineage from John is:
Samuel Wilcockson
Isiah Wilcockson
William M. Wilcockson
Martin Vanburen Wilcockson/Wilcox
General Grant Wilcox
Rosa Jean Wilcox/Hodges
Gary Hodges

Grant was born and raised in Ashe. He married Cornelia Alice McGuire, also of Ashe. They had ten children, all born in Ashe and my mother Jean was their youngest. Grant, Cornelia, and six children moved to Boone, Watauga CO NC between 1916-1920.

In some of the planetmurphy information on Samuel Wilcockson I kept seeing a very familiar location, Old Fields. This is the area in Ashe CO Grant and Cornelia lived before moving to Boone and where my mother Jean was born.
