Wilcox Family Genealogy Forum
Our family is in the process of DNA testing for one generation where paperwork cannot be found. Two males have submitted testing through ancestry.com. Any matches to anyone, and they will be notified. We are hoping to find more relatives. Here is an answer from one of my cousins doing research on the Wilcox line. The Wilcox connections could be interesting. There were two large Wilcox families in New England that I know of. The one that we're descended from through Ellen Eliz. settled in the Little Compton-Tiverton area on the east side of Narragansett Bay in RI (originally part of the Plymouth Colony).
The other family was concentrated in the vicinity of Middletown, CT, in the Connecticut River Valley. (Most of the early settlers in that area came to CT from the Boston area--Massachusetts Bay Colony.) I have connections to both of these families, but I think without checking back that the Middletown connections are all on my mother's side. Through the Middletown Wilcoxes, I'm also very distantly related to my dentist, Greg Wilcox, but he hasn't given me a family discount because of it. There's a lengthy Wilcox/Wilcoxson genealogy that was published late in the 20th century. I recently bought a CD of it from Heritage Press and can probably do some checking in it as names come up. My guess is that most of the Wilcoxes we are contacted by will be related to one or the other of these families.
