I have hit that well-know"brick wall"and need help!My G-G-grandfather John Wilcher was born in Va.1807.The next we know he marries our G-G-grandmother(his 3rd.wife)Francia(Frances)Mahalia Doss,in Marshall Co.Alabama in 1840.He brings 3 children to their marriage,-Montgomery,b.about 1829 in KY,David C.,b.about 1830 in Ala. & Sarah Ann,b.in TN.about 1835.He was said to be well educated,a minister and a civic leader.They lived in Guntersville.Marshall Co.,Ala.They had 7 children-John T.b.abt.1843,Rebecca Jane b,abt.1844,Frances Caroline,b.abt.1846,Hopkins(Hop or Hobbs)Turney,b.Nov.21,1846 in Birmingham,Ala.,Mary Emily,b.1847,Benjamin Franklin,b.1849 and David Delaney born in 1852.John D.Wilcher's will was recorded in Marshall Co.,Ala.Dec.30,1856.In Sept.16,1861 it is recorded that their daughter,Rebecca Jane married J.Russell Noble at the home of Mrs F.Mahala Wilcher.The next I know of them they were in Ponotoc,Miss.where Hopkins Turney Wilcher married Mary Jane Haynes,Sept.1,1872.Their 1st.child-a son,Wallace H.was born there and they left with his mother,sisters & their husbands,the Haynes,& Cobbs in a wagon train for Texas.The trip took them 3 months as they were also driving horses and cattle.They settled at Ferris,Tx.Some of the Haynes left in 1880 and moved to Fisher Co.,Tx.Mary Jane died in 1919 and H.T.in 1928.They are both buried at Ferris,Tx.-Peggy H.Nelson<peggynelson4@aol.com>
