That's interesting , I didn't really expect there to be a connection .
Do you have any more details about the John in Wrangle - where he lived ; what he did ?
I have a book called Boston ;its story and people . If I find anything I'll let you know .
I can recommend a book called "Blue Horizons" by Tony Horvitz about Capt Cook's voyages . Also "This Thing of Darkness" by Harry Thompson which is about Fitzroy and Darwin
