Looking for Ed Wilbur
Ed Wilbur was born on October 31st 1906,Mother Mary Richard born 1879; Father Frank Thomas Wilbur a native of Ohio born 1872 and married July 3rd 1905 Alameda, CA, John Lee Wilbur best man and Nellie Crowley bridesmaid at St. Patrick's Church West Oakland. Ed was in the Navy during the war. He died of a cerebral aneurysm in 1956. He was an only child. His discharge papers from the navy indicate he was about 6' tall and a Quartermaster First Class, Separation October 17th 1945 served for 3 year 5 months one bronze star for Asiatic Pacific. He listed accounting and bookkeeping as profession.Served on the USS Daring; Qualified as a tugboat Capt. on 400-ton diesel electric tugs. On his birth certificate his father was listed as a Potter the address as listed as 347 Haight Street- Alameda. The only other piece of paper that I have is an 1867 discharge paper for William M. Wilbur for volunteers who enrolled to serve 3 years at Camp Tiffini Ohio. He was born Muskinguin County state of Ohio. He was 20 years old at the time.
