Capt. William Wilber, NY and VT, late 1700-early 1800s

My great-great-great-great grandfather was a Captain William Wilbur of (I think) Bennington Cty, Vermont. He had a son, William Jr. who married Roxa Tupper (and later "Amy") and moved to Cayuga Cty, NY in the early 1800s. His daughter Mercy married Josiah Tupper. Capt. William Wilbur may have moved to Vermont from Salisbury, CT, and he may have fought in the Revolution. Any help is appreciated!
