Looking for information or contact from anyone who has more information on the family of James Wigton. As far as I know, James was married to Margaret McQuiston and they were originally from Butler Co, Penn. I believe my family was originally from Wigtonshire, Wigton Bay, Scotland. Three brothers initially came to New York. One brother settled in Pennsylvania, one in Ohio, and the 3rd in Virgina. The first wife and 5 children of James, who settled in Virginia were murdered by a Seneca Indian named Samuel Mohawk on June 30, 1843. James then married Elnora Tannyhill on 12/19/1844 and had eight children, John Perry, James Douglas, Austin, Isaiah, Walter, Norton, Lewis and Phoebe. John Perry is my GGGfather.
