THE NAME WIGLEY is an orgin of English/Irish decent. It was originally O'Wiglea (pro:OWIJLEE).The O'Wiglea's were banned from Ireland in 1674 due to a massive crackdown on prostitution and gambling houses shortly after the great plague of Ireland in 1672, of which they controlled many across Dublin and surrounding ciites.Once they arrived in England around 1681, they changed the name to Wiglea,(PRO: WIJLEE), but the English called them "Wigleys" to further cleanse their past from Ireland, since Arthur and Benjamin Wiglea were sat on the Kings noble list due to many gifts offered him, including prostitutes from Italy and Ireland and gold furniture for the palace (which was hand made in Ireland).
That is the orgin of the name as stated and certified in the Geneology Trace and Studies lab at Notre Dame University. (1996)
