Mr. Barris,
I have been working on what you suggested and have a new theory which I would like to present and get your thoughts, if you would be so kind.
Deborah Wightman, the wife of John Record, who you said might be the aunt of my Wightman ancestor, was the daughter of John Wightman and Jane Bentley. One of Deborah's nephews was George Wightman who married Bridget Sweet.George and Bridget had a number of children, amongst them Elizabeth and John who married a brother and sister, Thomas and Sarah Casey. Elizabeth's and John's children would thus be g-g-nieces/nephews of Deborah Wightman Record.John Wightman and Sarah Casey were married the year before my ancestor, John Wightman, was born.My John Wightman named one of his younger sons Casey (his other sons were John, George, Peter and LeMoyne).I realise that my theory is mostly conjecture, but it seems plausible to me, especially in light of the unusual coincidence between the name of John's son and the maiden name of John's mother, if John and Sarah Casey Wightman are indeed the parents on my John Wightman.I'd appreciate it if you could give me your opinion of my idea.Thank you for your time.Geof Acker
