Gabriel followed his brother-in-law, Benjamin Wigginton, to Bedford Co. VA. It may be that John Wigginton, his father-in-law, owned land in Bedford which his children settled on.

Later on Gabriel and Jane resided in Harper's Ferry, VA. A biography of their son, Seth Slaughter Jones mentions residence there. However, by 1807 they were back in Culpeper Co. because Gabriel is listed amoung the justices of the county summoned to the next court meeting to decide on repairing/ building courthouse.

Misc. Notes
Gabriel was the only son of the Revolutionary officer to remain in Virginia.
