Need help sorting out two Garrett Wiggins lines. I have Thomas Wiggins, b. 1705 (? loc.). His son is Archibald Wiggins, b. 1744 Hampshire Co. VA, died Feb. 22, 1817 in Mason Co. KY. Archibald m. Mary Flint in 1769. Children: Joseph b. 1772, Thomas B. abt. 1773, Phillip b. abt. 1774, Caroline Charity b. abt. 1775, Archibald b. Jun. 9, 1783, Frances b. abt. 1785, John b. abt. 1787 and Freelove b. abt. 1788. (Joseph, Thomas, Phillip, Archibald, Frances Asberry, John, Freelove and Charity all mentioned in Archibald's will.)
Joseph married Rachel Dawson and they had children Garett b. 1797, and David Dawson b. 1796.
I found an early marriage in Edgecomb County, NC with Garrett marrying Temperance Boone Dec. 29, 1823 and thought this was my Garrett. However, I found this family of Temperance Wiggins in 1850 census Mississippi with Temperance born in N. Carolina and age 48 without Garrett listed.
My line is descended through Garrett and I have him in Hancock County, Indiana 1860 with wife, Harriet (Nancy Harriet Toadvine Keith) with children: George, John F., Samuel. Children: Phillip b. 1827, Joseph b. 1829, William b. 1831, Francis b. 1832, George b. 1836, Lawson b. 1838, Elizabeth b. 1839, Margaret b. 1840, John Flint b. Aug. 31, 1840, and Samuel b. 1847. Garrett is also in Hancock County in 1850 and in Rush County in 1840. there is only one Garrett Wiggins listed in 1830 Edgecomb Co., NC.
John Flint Wiggins b. 1840 m. Martha Clayton. Children: Monteville b. 1867, John Flint Jr. b. 1869, Joseph b. 1871, Lulu b. 1872, Mary A. b. 1875, Ruth b. 1879, Laura b. Dec. 1882, Rufus Monroe b. Jun. 11, 1887, Jessie b. Jul, 1890.
Rufus' son John Franklin Wiggins b. Jun. 5, 1917 is my husband's father and lives with us.
Is there only one Garrett? Did he divorce Temperance? Are there two and one died in Mississippi and the other in Indiana? If so, who are the correct parents for each?
Any help greatly appreciated. Will share all information and documentation linking to other Wiggins'.
