Cannot say that there is any one way to determine where the name originated.Except that I know in my Wiggins lineage memiors were left in 1888 where Alleyne Hendy Wiggins stated where he was born in Englandalso stated his father's and grandfather's names all of which were John Wiggins
He further went on to say the the orginator of the name came from the South of Denmark called VICKENS, John and fought for Wm of Orange in Ireland's great battles. It is also stated in various books that the name was that given to those that fought for Wm III!This further backs up as to what he stated. It seems then that the name most likely was in Ireland and from that point the desc. of those that fought for Wm III moved on to various areas in the English Isle.
