There has been some controversy as to who the wives of Thomas (3) and (4) actually were. A lot of records show Dorothy Stevens of Stratham being the wife of Thomas (4); however, I found in the Greenland, NH records (p 40)the following marriage: Thomas Wiggin and Sarah Piper, 17 Dec 1719 and this has been confirmed by my cousin who lives in Stratham. That leaves the wife of Thomas (3) who has been listed only as Sarah ? who is called "the widow Palmer" at her death. This seems to signify Sarah ? married a second time following the death of Thomas (3). It is highly unlikely she took her maiden name back after his death...that was not a practice followed in those days, especially when children were involved. We are searching to verify Sarah ? maiden name with a solid source. To date, none has surfaced. Arthur C. Wiggin in his manuscript titled WIGGIN GENEALOGY uses only Sarah ? for her name as well. The surname PLUMER does not come into play with these two Thomas'
