I'm a Summers descendant. You can see my gedcom online at:

Looking for info on Joseph Wigfield m. bef Nov1786 to Elizabeth Summers - she dau of John Summers III & Mary Moore of Prince George's Co, MD.

[See post found at]: which states in part:

"I have the following notes on an Elizabeth and John WIGFIELD. She may be the daughter of John GORDON:

Source: Wigfield Newsletter, Ruth Phillips, ed, Pioneer Library, Bedford, PA. Vol 17, p. 8:
"John Summers Wigfield b. Nov. 16, 1771 in St. John's Parish, Prince George's County, Maryland. He was the son of Joseph Wigfield and Elizabeth Summers and move with them to Bedford Co., PA. His wife was Elizabeth. John died before his parents did, and in the Minor Children's Court in Bedford, his children and wife are named in the will of his mother who died after her husband around the 1810's. John's children were: Rebecca, Elizabeth and John."

Elizabeth Summers Wigfield is listed in her father's will d. Nov 1786 Prince George's Co, MD; husband is not named but presume is this Joseph Wigfield b. abt 1736) per this census:

Census: Federal, 1776 MD St John's and Prince George's Parishes.
"Males: Joseph, 40: 4
Females: Elizabeth, 28:6:3:1.

According to above posted source, appears Joseph & Elizabeth Wigfield moved to Bedford Co, PA? Given the age difference between Joseph & Elizabeth, and the number of children compared to her relatively young age, he may have been married previously.

Am hoping someone recognizes this Wigfield branch and can provide details of those mentioned, as well as, any descendants.

Thank you!
