Some Wiesners settled in Ellis County, Kansas, in particular the town of Hays, Kansas circa 1871. For more details, contact Jim Wiesner in Aurora, Colorado at JIMJILL@aol.com. His grandfather, A.A. Wiesner (you'll have to get A.A.'s full name from Jim), started a grocery store in Hays, Kansas shortly after emigrating from the Volga region of Prussia. He married and had at least five sons. One of his son's, Francis (called Frank) was Jim's father.
A.A. Wiesner was well-known in Ellis County. For many years, he and his sons owned and operated Wiesners Department Store on Main Street in Hays.
