Hi Doug! I only have what my grandmother told me or had written down for our family before she died. She wrote that Trien (her grandmother) died in Germany when her mother was three. She said her mother's baby sister came over with Trien's brother Hans Lage, and his wife to Moline, IL. She didn't say anything else about Hans and family other than that his wife and the baby sister died shortly after arriving and are buried in Lage grave in Moline cemetery.
She also wrote that her mother and her mother's two older sisters, remained in Germany with a sister's (of Trien's) family, by the name of Petersen and that "Aunt Bertha Diedrich in Durant was a Petersen of that family."
She wrote a list "Mother's cousins"
Aunt Bertha Petersen Tiller Diedrich, Hans and John Petersen families Hartley Iowa (their mother was a Lage).
On another page she lists - Hannes Lage, John Petersen and Henry Petersen all Hartley, IA. Julius Lage in Durant and Herman Lage married Lizzie Frye, daughter Gertrude Lage Duffy. Otto Lage wife Catherine Hagen. Agnes Lage Goettsch, Minnie Lage Stein, Emil Lage, Doris Lage Hagen, Emma Lage Hahn. Herman Lage - Moline, Karl Lage Rock Island.
Also, about sixty years ago my grandfather started making a family tree for my grandmother and wrote that Trien's and her brother Han's parent's names were Heinrich Lage and Anne Seiffert.
Please let me know if any of these names are familiar. If you think there's any connection I also have some of the cousin's children's names and married names.
Would also like to hear from anyone else who reads this and has any info. Hope to hear from you soon! Lynn
