George had two wives...Nancy Sanford, mother of John, would be one of them and Maria Elizabeth Bender was the other.
George & Nancy's son, John (b. 17 Sept 1784) married Maria Margaret Christman and they had 13 children. The last born (with his twin brother Isaac) was Sanford Widrig who married Susan Tracy.
One of Sanford and Susan's children was William Sanford Widrig, whom I descend from. The Sanford name passes through this line along with Widrig as my father's middle name.
Everything gets all mixed up when there are two wives or if one of them is a "Mrs." and that fact gets left off.
