Thanks for your reply, This is what is written on John Widrig b Sept 1784;
Lineage Book of the DAR p 277 Vol. 72-1909 relating to Mrs. Minnie F. Gill Cox and who is listed as the Great Grandaughter of John Widrig and Mary Christman and the Great Great Grand-dau of George Widrig and Nancy Sanford, his wife. This would mean that General George Widring remarried after the death of Maria Elizabeth and had children by the second wife.
John Widrig, fourth child of General George and Grandfather of Ambrose, md Marie Christman. John & Marie and their 13 children came to Ellisburg in 1832 and for 75 years Francis residead on the same place where the family first settled. Children of John and Marie Christman Widrig;
Daniel b 10 June 1804, did not marry; Betsy md__GARDNER, d in Wisconsin; John md Charity__died in Herkimer Co.; George not married died in Ellisburg, N.Y.; Mary md__HUNT; died in Wisconsin; Margaret, md Calvin D.W. LEONARD died in Ill.;Clarissa md Jacob HUFFSTATER, d in Boylston, N.Y.; Francis, father of Ambrose, was born 6 Jan 1826. He died on 18 Feb 1907 at the farm home where he had lived for 75 years and was buried in the cem. in Ellisburg. There were five other children b to John & Marie. My father, Ambrose did not list them.
John's first wife, Maria Christman Widrig d in 1826 or 1827 and John was married again to Margaret___. Their children were Sanford and Isaac Widrig, twins born in 1830. Francis Widrig, father of Ambrose, Mertie and Pardon died on Feb 1907. He was 6 yrs old when his father, John & family came from what is now called Frankfort Hill, Herkimer Co. N.Y. to Ellisburg, Jefferson Co. N.Y. John's first wife Maria Christman, had relatives in Ellisburg by the name of Christman which was said to have induced the family to come to Ellisburg.
This history is six pages long. I could send you a copy of it. Can you confirm the maggiage of George to Nancy SANFORD? In 1802/3? Have you found what ship they came here on?
