Hi Tim !

Thanks for your detailed information. I have not done any research on the Widdis name, however, I've always been interested. I did not know if the name were English, Irish, or, whatever. Some people have even thought that it was German. A business person in my city has the last name Wides, but he is Jewish.

I have some distant cousins who live in the state of New Jersey. I have been told by my Aunt Margie Varga, formerly Widdis, that the cousins are working on a genealogy. I will pass along the information you provided, they will be very appreciative !

Something you said in your message rings true: my father Harold, from the State of New Jersey, was raised protestant, he later converted to Catholicism upon marrying my mother Frances Bruggeman (there is no mistaking the nationality of her last name).

My father and I are the only Widdises in our metropolitan area, which numbers around 1.9 million people (Cincinnati, Ohio). It has been very lonely !

My E Mail address is

Thanks again, your help is truly
appreciated !
