William Wicks in Wiltshire (1846) and prior
Posted by: Tony Drew (ID *****6997) Date: August 10, 2006 at 02:26:11

The following is not really in my line of
descent, but my great grandfather's sister Eliza Drew married a William Wicks at Chilton Foliat in Wiltshire on 18th April, 1846. At his wedding he was described as a Sergeant in the 3rd Regt. of Foot. From another source, I have potentially located a possible fit for William in 1843 - a William Wicks with a Service Number 1461 was serving with the 3rd Regt. of Foot at Punniar during the Gwallior campaign.

I would be interested in hearing from anybody about this person, mainly to establish who and where he was from and of any descendants - also his military history.
