Wickliff/Wickliffe/Shelby Co Ind
Frank M. Wickliff, son of Jacob M. Wickliff and Clarissa Fox, married Shelby Co Ind 25 June 1867, to Harriet Ann Winton, daughter of Samuel Frazier Winton and 2nd wife Cynthia Ann (Dennis) Rhodes. Frank M. Wickliff and Harriet Ann Winton only had one child, unnamed, born/died 1895, buried next to Frank M.When my fathers mother died in 1891, my father was only 3 yrs old, so Frank M. Wickliff and Harriet Ann Winton took my father into their house. Harriet was half sister to my fathers mother.Though my fathers father was still living, my father considered Frank M. Wickliff as almost "father" also. When Frank M. Wickliff met his death, it was the end of a "happy and meaningful time" for my father, and my father was pretty much "on his own" from then on.Frank M. Wickliff was killed in 1903, due to a haying accident, whereby a belt slipped off, cutting him "in two". He, like several of the Wickliffs, farmed just west of Blue River, all around Freeport (old Freeport) area, north and west and south. The land at Freeport Meth Church just north of old Mill, was from Frank M./Harriet landThank you.Regards, Dick
